Confirel enables farmers to acquire better technical knowledge and to fully benefit from the potential of palm sugar production.

Traditionally, Cambodians only harvest the sap during the dry season, at a time when rice fields require less attention. Palm trees are thus harvested over a six-month period, lasting from December to June/July. Taking into account the seasonality of fruit, Confirel provides an opportunity to turn a temporary palm sugar production into a permanent activity, generating full-time jobs.

By putting the emphasis on palm sugar production, Confirel makes sure that farmers and land owners are made aware of the necessily to preserve their palm trees and to the need for well-thought and sustainable development.

Finally, by resorting to local manpower in its production unit, Confirel is also providing jobs in an emerging farm-produce industry.
